The Client

A UK-based mobile accessories ecommerce store. The ads were running, traffic was coming in — but the store wasn’t converting it. Visitors were landing and leaving. The budget was doing its job. The funnel wasn’t.

The brief wasn’t to spend more. It was to make what they were already spending actually work.

Traffic Without Conversion Is Just Noise.

Campaigns weren’t structured for new customer acquisition — the account had no clear split between prospecting and retention. Budget was circulating around existing audiences rather than pulling in net-new buyers.
Landing pages were losing the sale — click-through was happening but the pages people landed on weren’t built to convert. Add-to-cart and checkout rates were low, meaning the ads were doing their job and the funnel was dropping the ball.
More sessions wasn’t the answer — throwing more traffic at a leaking funnel just loses more money faster. The problem was conversion efficiency, not volume.

Fix the Funnel Before Touching the Budget.

1

Restructure Campaigns Around New Customer Acquisition

We rebuilt the account structure to explicitly target and track new customers. Separate campaigns, separate signals, separate optimisation goals — so the algorithm was feeding on new buyer data, not recycling existing ones.

2

Optimise Landing Pages for Conversion

We identified the drop-off points in the funnel and fixed them. Page layout, product presentation, trust signals, friction in the checkout path — everything that stood between a click and a purchase got reviewed and improved. Same traffic, better outcomes.

3

Let the Funnel Improvements Compound

A 151% lift in conversion rate means every session is now worth significantly more than it was before. The ad spend didn’t increase — but the return on every pound of it did. Sessions grew modestly by 79%, but add-to-carts were up 313% and completed purchases up 349%.

The Lever Nobody Was Pulling

More spend was never the answer. The traffic was already there — the funnel was just throwing it away. When you fix what happens after the click, every pound you were already spending starts working harder. That’s what a 333% lift in new customers on the same budget looks like.
